Firefighters from multiple stations are tackling a blaze at a commercial garage in Newport this evening (Monday).
4 fire appliances are on scene at Riverway industrial estate, where black smoke can be seen billowing from the Newport Tyres industrial building.
Crews equipped with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets have forced open the roller shutter to gain entry to the premises.
As a result of the ongoing incident, Riverway has been closed.
Currently there is no through access from Halfords and Leslie’s Motors used car centre the other side.
UPDATE @ 19:42 – The blaze has been brought under control and firefighters have begun safety checks on the building.
It’s understood a vehicle fire within the garage is to blame.

Hopefully nick and the boys get sorted out and back in business soon as possible car fires are not good even at the best of times but when they’re inside a garage that’s the worst the fire brigade boys had it under control early so saved the Day lucky it happend early evening when people were about to spot it if it has been in the night it could have been a different story hope they get sorted soon
