UPDATED: Police have this week launched an appeal for information after a second indecent exposure incident in Ryde where a man exposed himself to a female dog walker.
The incident took place at around 15:45 last Wednesday (26th March) in the quiet area of Binstead Lodge Road, Binstead on the outskirts of Ryde, as originally reported by Island Echo on Twitter.
Whilst walking her dog near the communal grassed area between Binstead Lodge Road and Verwood Drive, a local resident witnessed a man – who was walking the other side of the road – indecently expose his genitalia to her after he whistled for her attention.
The suspect is described as white, about 6ft tall and of stocky build with medium length dark hair and heavy black-framed glasses. At the time of the exposure he was wearing a dark sweatshirt with cream stripes either side of a central zip, light blue shorts and flip flops – noticeable Summer wear for a not-so-warm day.
The man who exposed himself was walking a tubby tan and white jack russell, which looked like an older dog.
UPDATE @ 12:25 – Police have confirmed that a 59-year-old has been arrested following the incident.
This is the second indecent exposure in Ryde this month, however the two offences are not being connected.
Anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in that area or recognises the description of the suspect is asked to contact Newport CID by phoning 101, quoting crime reference: 44140100934. Information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
