Hunnyhill Primary School in Newport will soon be known as Hunnyhill Ormiston Academy, as the school will be joining Ormiston Academies Trust later this year, it has been announced.
The primary school will be officially converting to an academy and joining the Trust after confirmation from the Department for Education and the Isle of Wight Council earlier this month.
Ormiston is a values-led organisation with a strong commitment to providing high-quality education for children and young people to have the opportunity to thrive. It currently operates 44 schools nationally, including Cowes Enterprise College.
The primary school has been working in partnership with the Trust for some months, and decided to join the Trust following a rigorous selection and consultation process, in which they placed significant importance on joining a family of schools whose values aligned closely with their own.
The school has said the new partnership will bring ‘significant benefits’ for pupils, and staff have already been working closely together to share support, expertise, and additional professional development opportunities for teachers.
To reflect the name change, a new logo and signage will follow in due course.
