3 residential properties on the Island, mong 147 lots listed by Clive Emson Auctioneers, sold at the firm’s March auction. A detached 2-bedroom freehold bungalow at 12 Footways, Wootton went for £247,000 in a bidding war. Rob Marchant, Island auctioneer, said:
“There was keen interest, with 25 bids made – the final one came in at £62,000 above the guide price.”
A semi-detached town centre building at 23A & 23B Cross Street in Sandown, arranged as 2 flats and chalked for improvement, sold freehold for £198,000. A 1-bedroom residence at Flat 2, Coniston House, 9 Coniston Drive, on a 999-year lease, fetched £57,000.
Re-available lots included the Prince Consort, a 4-storey waterfront building at St Thomas Street, Ryde, which had a freehold guide price of £400,000+. The next auction by Clive Emson Auctioneers – the 3rd of 8 this year – ends on Wednesday 1st May; bidding opens 48 hours beforehand. Lot entries close on 8th April, with the online catalogue available from 12th April.

I wonder what fool thought he/she could get a 2 bed bungalow for ~£180k ?
I suppose the sort of fool that actually believed the so called ‘guide price’ supplied by the experts!
I think they paid too much for the bungalow – it looked as though it required a lot of work, but then again, I admit I’m out of touch with property prices – they all look too high to me!
Paid way too much for the bungalow. I looked at it ages ago, needs 100k spent on it to make it right and last another 40 years
