COMPETITION: The deadline for thrill seekers to be in with the chance to slip and slide down Union Street in Ryde for just £5 has been extended as a heatwave hits the Isle of Wight – in addition Island Echo is giving readers the opportunity to win one of three pairs of tickets.
In less than 2 weeks time some 300 lucky people will be heading down one of Ryde’s main roads on a giant 200m water slide as the Bestival Ryde Slide comes to town on Sunday 12th July. The news broke earlier this month following months of excitement from Islanders.
For a chance to be one of the lucky water sliders, entrants should head to www.bestivalrydeslide.net before Monday 6th July and donate £5 to be entered into a draw. 300 people will then be picked at random and notified on Tuesday 7th July. Donations can also be made by texting BEST001 to 70970.
All proceeds will go to Local Charitable causes including Ryde Inshore Rescue; Aspire Ryde Community Centre; Ryde Arena Ltd and Ryde Waterside Pool via the Ryde Slide Trust. Already more than £1800 has been raised.

The Bestival Slide will be making a triumphant return with a very special appearance at Bestival this September between 10th-13th at Robin Hill, adding even more madcap adventure and unique aquaplaning joy to the festival’s Summer of Love.
