The Isle of Wight’s best pubs and beers have been celebrated at the 2024 CAMRA Pub and Beer of the Year Awards. These annual awards aim to recognise the best of the best in a crowded marketplace, reflecting the opinion of everyone in the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale. Coming out on top was Newport Ale House, where the event was held on 26th May. It is described as a ‘new breed’ of micropubs which are a reincarnation of the old beer houses – small, basic, friendly and offering a fine range of beers. The Ale House was closely followed by The Castle in Sandown, the perennial Traveller’s Joy in Northwood and The High Down at Totland. Top Beer honours went to Goddards for Fuggle-de-dum, with Island RDA, Goddards Puncheon Porter and Island Yachtsman just behind. Winners and runners-up get a framed certificate so their customers know they’re in a well-regarded establishment.

It seems that Bob Seely has taken to the drink now that he is no longer an MP. Thankfully, he should be able to get help from the island’s problem drinking service in due course after it has been funded by Labour.
Goes down well with a Sausage
Nothing on the island will be funded by Labour. All of it is funded by us the tax payer. They simply spend our money. Last time round they spent all if it and racked up a huge deficit of 6.9%.
Don’t try to rewrite history. The Labour government was not responsible for the 2008 recession. The recession was caused by the housing bubble bursting in the US, which led to subsequent financial crises in other countries.
Thanks for providing a link to the actual awards website so we don’t have to google it ourselves.
Oh wait.
I don’t think I’ll be drinking at the Ale House if that’s where Pop Up Bob goes.
I doubt you would bump into Bob in the Newport Ale House. Now if you had a Gastro pub in town….
Pop up bob pops up again, why does he need his mug shot taken
Newport Ale House. Fantastic.
