The Bembridge RNLI Inshore Lifeboat ‘The Norman Harvey’ was launched to assist a broken down open sports boat with 8 people on board this evening (Wednesday).
The casualty vessel was being used for skiing off Lane End beach at Bembridge, the same beach where the lifeboat station is based.
Arriving on scene 5 minutes after launching at just after 20:00, it was found that the casualty boat had a rope stuck in the jet drive and was effectively disabled.
After ensuring all on board were ok, the sports boat was taken undertow to Bembridge Harbour – its home port – and the lifeboat returned to station by 21:00.
