Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was launched in response to a kite surfer reported to be in difficulty near Eastney Beach this morning (Monday). At 08:58, Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat amid concerns for the kite surfer. Portsmouth RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was also tasked to launch, having become available for service at just gone 09:00. However, within just 15 minutes of the alarm being raised, it was confirmed that the kite surfer had been able to self-recover and was safely back on the beach. Both lifeboats were stood down, with Bembridge’s ALB recovered to the boathouse by 09:45.
