THE 2012 Beach Soccer season kicked off in the sunshine at Appley this weekend with an incredible 78 goals during the day.

Teams from across the Island took part in the first game of the 11th season at the specially designed pitch on Appley beach, Ryde.

Last season’s victors, The Bees, took an incredible win against Solent Santos, scoring 11 goals against nil, as well as beating local opposition Shanklin Sharks 7 goals to 2.

A starting point for international players, the Isle of Wight’s Beach Soccer league has grown in leaps and bounds and is now regarded as one of the best in the country.
