Amid the Coronavirus Crisis, Barnardo’s Isle of Wight Family Centres are still up and running to deliver essential support to families across the Island.
The children’s charity’s Family Centres Hubs in East Newport, Ryde and Sandown are still manned by their dedicated administration teams and parents can contact them to request information or discuss any concerns linked to their children and family life. The Centres also remain open for pre-arranged midwifery and health-visitor appointments.
Barnardo’s Isle of Wight Family Centres serve families with children aged between 0-19 years, and can provide information, guidance, signposting and teaching on all aspects of parenting. A range of free parenting courses, normally delivered in the Family Centres, have now moved to online platforms such as Zoom and Whatsapp, so parents are able to access support through a range of wonderful evidence based courses or one to one support.
Claire Steen, Children’s Services Manager, said:
“We are pleased that our Barnardo’s Family Centres are still open for business and are able to deliver various services to support families across the island whether in person or via digital platforms. This means that during these difficult times we can continue to provide invaluable support to those who need us most”.
The charity’s Intensive family Support workers have also continued to support families throughout lockdown by swapping regular home support visits to offering regular support via phone, Zoom or Whatsapp.
