Police have been investigating the discovery of bags on a beach in Binstead, but fears of them being filled with drugs have been alleviated. Officers were called at around 10:30 to reports of multiple bags washing up on a beach near Quarr Road. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary deployed multiple officers, with HM Coastguard and Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat also mobilised to the scene. A number of Police vehicles have been present on Quarr Road today, where it is thought they utilised private property to access the stretch of coast between Fishbourne and Binstead.
It has been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary that the packages have been inspected.
The bags, described as suitcases, have been found to contain bedding.
