Publishing over 5,500 stories a year to an ever-growing readership generating in excess of 2.3 million page views a month, Island Echo is the leading news website for the Isle of Wight. Established in 2012, the company has grown rapidly to become the market leader and was named ICNN Community Website of the Year in 2021.
In our 10th anniversary year, we are looking for a hardworking, motivated, trustworthy and personable individual who can help take the business forward into 2022 and beyond.
You will be responsible for reaching out to potential new clients focusing on our display advertising opportunities, as well as working alongside the editorial team to produce paid-for features throughout the year and arranging advertorial placements.
In addition to attracting new B2B sales, you will liaise with our existing clients on their renewals with an emphasis on exploring further advertising opportunities. You will also be responsible for promoting and managing the Isle of Wight Business Directory and the new family announcement section.
This part-time role across 3 days, which reflects our buoyant sales position that continues to grow year-on-year with excellent client retention rates, will see you conduct outbound calls and emails, as well as managing inbound enquiries.
This is an office-based role with very occasional out-of-office visits, plus the opportunity to attend business breakfasts and lunches throughout the year. Unlike many other sales roles out there, pay is not based on your performance, offering stability for the successful candidate.

• is self-motivated and can manage their time and workload well
• is a professional and organised communicator
• can proactively generate new leads, send and manage proposals and successfully close deals
• has some level of experience in B2B sales
• has a knowledge of the local area/local business
• can utilise social media platforms such as LinkedIn to identify, reach out to and engage with new and existing clients
Working Hours:
- 18 hours a week
09:00-15:00, 3 days a week (Flexibility available for the right applicant – potential for the role to grow)
