2 men have been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a woman at a flat in Sandown this afternoon (Friday).
It was just gone 15:10 that Police and paramedics were called to an address at Ashborne Court, on Albert Road, to reports of a serious assault.
Multiple resources were mobilised to the scene, including no fewer than 2 Armed Response Vehicles and 4 other Police units, as well as a critical care paramedic, a rapid response paramedic and an ambulance crew.
Emergency services arrived to find a woman with serious injuries.
Initial investigations have led to 2 men – both 30-years-old and from Sandown – being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They have been taken into custody at Newport Police Station for questioning – one of them covered in blood.
On scene investigations are continuing this afternoon.
The victim has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
