Police are investigating an act of vandalism and theft at Arreton Cricket Club this week.
Club members discovered on Wednesday that a number of items had been stolen including a mower, electric strimmer and 3 jerry cans.
A shed at the club’s home ground had also been damaged and wires belonging to brand new appliances cut. In addition, paint had been poured over a John Deere ride-on lawnmower.
A spokesperson for Arreton Cricket Club has said:
“As you know our club is run by volunteers, and funding that is given to us for our youngsters and adults alike who enjoy cricket.
“There are a great number of people who dedicate their time and energy to create a happy, safe environment at Arreton CC and after a difficult two years for everyone it’s aim, more than ever, is to bring people together.
“This is a note to warn other clubs around the Island that there are people out there who are stealing and vandalising equipment, and to take extra precautions as we will now endeavour to do.
“If anyone has seen anything unusual around the cricket club please report it to the Police as we have done, and if you see any of the items listed above appearing for sale on any platform again please report it”.
