A 48-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man have been arrested for drugs offences after Police raided a home on the outskirts of Newport this morning (Thursday).
Officers from the Isle of Wight Area Crime Team executed a warrant at an address at Hogan Road, off Horsebridge Hill, at around 08:00.
The ‘big red key’ was used to flatten the front door with riot-clad officers bundling in to make their arrests.
Island Echo understands that the raid was carried out acting on local intelligence.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that suspected Class A drugs were seized and recovered during this morning’s raid.
A 28-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug and a 48-year-old woman from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.
Both remain in custody at this time.
Enquiries are ongoing.
UPDATE – Both individuals have been released under investigation, Police have confirmed.
