UPDATED: Police are understood to have arrested a ‘young male’ in Ventnor following a large emergency response to the town this afternoon (Monday).
As many as 5 or 6 Police vehicles – including a local Dog Unit – raced into Ventnor from all directions at around 15:00 before descending on the Madeira Road and Bonchurch areas.
Island Echo understands an ‘altercation’ has occurred at an address on the High Street.
Police have now withdrawn from the area.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that they were called to a suspected assault yesterday afternoon. A man with facial injuries was found inside a flat.
Although it was initially thought officers had arrested and detained a man outside the town’s Central store, Police have confirmed that no arrests were made yesterday in connection with the incident.
Investigations continue.
