A 48-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after a woman was glassed in the face in Ryde last night (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is investigating the assault, which occurred at The Veteran pub at around 19:30.
Following a verbal altercation between a group of people – which is thought to have involved racial comments – a woman in her 30s was hit in the face with a glass.
Her injuries are not serious, but Island Echo understands she sustained cuts to her face.
A man in his 70s also sustained minor injuries to his arm during the ensuing melee.
The 46-year-old, who remains in custody at this time, has also been arrested on suspicion of common assault and possession of cannabis.

I think it’s more likely increasing numbers of poorly educated morons who vastly outnumber the police. They know nothing but violence to resolve conflict. Feel very sorry for those injured in this disgusting incident.
