A 31-year-old man remains in Police custody on suspicion of assault and criminal damage following an incident in Shanklin during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday), which led to a woman being hospitalised. Police received a report at around 01:00 of a domestic-related incident on Josephs Way, off Carter Avenue. Officers descended on the area and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were also deployed. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He remains in custody at this time. The female victim was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, but her injuries are not thought to be serious. Detectives from Newport CID have been conducting door-to-door enquiries as part of ongoing investigations.
