Ryde’s Mayor, Michael Lilley, has launched a Christmas appeal to raise funds for the most vulnerable in Ryde this Christmas.
Michael will be touring the town over the next week, visiting local venues and businesses to leave donation buckets.
The Mayor will also be selling his enchanting children’s book – Papa Owl – from venues throughout Ryde, making it the perfect Christmas present with all the funds going to The Mayor’s Charity.
On Boxing Day, the Mayor will be doing his annual Winter swim at Waterside Community Trust as part of the fundraising.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Jenna Sabine has joined in the fun and has transformed into a human advent calendar to raise funds with an array of incredible Christmas outfits each day.
Cllr Lilley says:
“Christmas is a happy time for most of us although it is harder with the continuing threat of Covid, but for many in the Town, it is stressful and a very anxious time. These residents need our support, help and kindness.
“There are a range of Ryde organisations, community groups and volunteers who will be focusing on support for the most vulnerable in the Town this Christmas and they need our support.
“I am launching my 2021 Christmas appeal to raise funds to go directly to this work this Winter. We all deserve to be warm, have a good Christmas dinner and to be able to give our children and grandchildren a present. This appeal is to make sure every Ryde resident whatever their age has this opportunity and has a chance of growth in 2022. It is a hard Winter during this pandemic, please help those who have it the hardest”.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Sabine adds:
“Please help me raise money for the Mayor’s Charity which will go to Ryde’s most vulnerable over this Christmas period. There will be a collection box at Monkton Arts and thank you to our Mayor Michael Lilley and the team at Ryde Town Council for getting the charity set up.”
how about you stop pestering the hard working taxpayers for more cash with begging buckets – we find this imposition of hands being out for what is left of our cash after you and the other councillors have spent it on stupid things insulting and stressful.
The so called needy get benefits and god knows what else already – stop pandering and start cutting things, to give the taxpayers a refund
SPOT ON iow’r.
These vulnerable beings are OFTEN not always but OFTEN the same trash as we read about on here doing vile things or being anti social.
They need to be given the mimium to just exist.
Then and ONLY then will they a reason to change their ways.
By giving more they then truly beleive the world OWES them a living and instead of being grateful are even more vile seeing it not as kindness, but weakness.
The need steralizing too, so OUR future children aren’t keeping ever more.
Happy Christmas to all normal decent people.
