An early morning call from Shrewton saved Ventnor’s second team a wasted journey on Saturday, heavy overnight rain putting paid to their Hampshire League Division 1 clash.

Meanwhile, 15-year-olds Zeph Wells and Ben Attrill were the outstanding performers in Ventnor third team’s 6 wicket success over Totton & Eling IV in Hampshire League Division 3 South.

Seamer Wells took 5-20 as the visitors were bowled out for 144, with Attrill’s fine unbeaten 51 seeing the home team to victory,  supported by 43 from Mark Price.
