The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled alongside other emergency services to a ‘serious incident’ at a holiday park in Shanklin.
Medics and Police are currently on scene at Lower Hyde Holiday Park having responded to the Parkdean Resorts site at around 10:30 this morning (Easter Monday).
The air ambulance touched down in a nearby field at just before 10:55.
Those on site at Lower Hyde say that they’ve been informed that they are unable to leave the park, with emergency teams currently in attendance at one of the park’s static caravans.
Parkdean staff have described the incident as ‘serious’.
UPDATE @ 12:40 – 1 person has been flown directly to Southampton General Hospital by the air ambulance.
Flying doctors spent more than 90 minutes on the ground in Shanklin, indicating the severity of the situation.
Southampton is the area’s major trauma centre and deals with patients who are too unwell to be treated locally and whose injuries or illnesses require specialist treatment.
UPDATE @ 12:55 – It has been confirmed that an 18-month-old baby has been involved in the incident.
Police say they have been assisting with a medical incident involving the young girl.
Officers remain at the scene this afternoon.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Police have confirmed that the young child remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital today.
