A man from Ventnor has been given an 8-month suspended prison sentence and fined £500 for repeatedly breaching a court order by making non-emergency 999 calls.
Michael Clifton-Smith, 37, of High Street, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court last week, where he pleaded guilty to 7 breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) made in November 2024.
The CBO prohibits him from contacting emergency services without a genuine reason. However, Clifton-Smith made further nuisance calls on several dates in June, July, August and October last year.
He was sentenced to 8 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, and fined £500. The court also imposed 20 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) days.
Island Echo previously reported that Clifton-Smith was fined £240 in 2023 after making over 1,000 nuisance calls.
