Wightlink is advising of the delays of up to 90 minutes on it Yarmouth-Lymington service today (Wednesday) due to a mechanical fault that hit one of the car ferries earlier.
Those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight on the West Wight route face significant delays, with no indication at this time if they are likely to improve or worsen as the day progresses.
It follows an issue with the garage deck on board Wight Light.
Customers are advised to continue to check in for heir original sailing time as teams work to return to a scheduled timetable.
Wightlink apologises sincerely for any changes to your travel plans.
UPDATE @ 15:44 – Delays of 90 minutes continue on the Yarmouth-Lymington service.
There are now also delays of 30 minutes on the Ryde Pier Head-Portsmouth Harbour Fastcat service due to a vessel swap.

More than likely due to lack of passengers.

to the mainland.
In fairness, it is very unusual fo rthere to be a problem or a delay on this route and the staff always do evrything they can to be as helpful as possible. But it begs the question across all the ferry routes, do they have no spare capacity or margin for the unexpected?
