The 21st Isle of Wight Lambretta Day Anniversary Weekender took place at Ryde Pavilion over the Platinum Jubilee weekend (4th-5th June).
Lambretta Day was 1st established in 1999 as meet up to launch the Lambretta brand of clothing. The event was attended by around 20 scooter riders. It has since grown into an annual event with over 300+ scooters from local and visiting clubs and solo riders.
This year, members of Devizes Scooter Club in Wilshire, the New Forest Scooter Club, and Portsmouth Scooter Club all crossed the Solent to take part in the event. Local scooter clubs Heart & Soul and Isle of Wight also came to the meet up.
Around 800 scooterists partied at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Ryde Pavillion. Some 250+ Lambrettas (plus a few Vespas) were at Newclose Cricket Ground for the ride out on Sunday afternoon.
Lambretta Day organiser Steve Robson of Visual Impact clothing shop in Newport told Island Echo:
“It’s been a fantastic atmosphere over the weekend. It was great to link it up to the jubilee celebrations.
“I’d like to thank everyone for coming. We hope to grow Lambretta Day to make it bigger and better every year.”
