As first reported by Island Echo, Police and ambulance crews were called to The Avenue, Gurnard at around 16:15 before rushing a female patient to St Mary’s Hospital under Police escort.
Hampshire Constabulary say the unnamed woman was found to be ‘seriously ill’.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of doctors and paramedics, the woman’s life could not be saved and she was pronounced dead.
Forensic investigators are present at St Mary’s Hospital tonight, but just 1 Police unit is present outside the property in Gurnard.

Neighbours have described both the deceased and the accused as ‘lovely lovely people’.
The 60-year-old suspect, who remains in Police custody, is said to be ‘the most gentle person ever’.
Although it is known the 45-year-old woman suffered from alcoholism, the circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be confirmed. However, a neighbour has said the woman ‘often fell down the stairs’.
