54-year-old Jason Stevenson is to appear in court charged with slashing a man’s face with a knife in the rural village of Brighstone earlier this year.
It was on 24th March that a man in his 20s was seriously assaulted outside the Three Bishops pub.
Island Echo reported at the time that the injured male had been slashed across the face, sustaining a laceration to his cheek.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a man has been charged in connection to the serious incident.
Jason Stevenson, of John Street in Ryde, has been charged with Section 18 – wounding with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a blade.
Mr Stevenson is accused of unlawfully and maliciously injuring with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
He will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday), where the case is expected to be sent up to the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

Sadly there seems to be so much crime on the island
thesedays.
You don’t expect this type of behaviour in a lovely
village like Brighstone.
I would like to see the Bobby back on the beat
it worked well in the old days.
Let’s hope this new Government employ more
Police.
Safety is imperative.
Increase taxes to pay for the extra police if necessary.
Typical Scouser.
I live on the mainland and we were told that when the “Tories” were in power, we would get another 700 police officers. I have yet to see any of them also the local police are wondering were the hell are they? Now this lot of LIARS are saying that we are going to get more police. Believe what you want. I would not trust any of them. I have had my winter heating allowance scrapped, I wonder what the budget is going to do to the pensioners. In my opinion they will take away the bus passes for starters and God only knows what else they will do to the pensioners?
