L-R: Ron Cook (Ventnor CC) and Tina Cooper (Arreton CC)

2 of the Isle of Wight’s All Star Cricket Centres, Arreton and Ventnor, have been recognised for their achievements over the last 2 years by being awarded a 5 Star Centre plaque by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The award is given to centres that have had more than 30 children involved in the ECB’s entry level participation programme for a period of 24 months. The programme is aimed at providing children aged 5 to 8 with a great first experience in cricket.

In 2018 there were 170 boys and girls taking part in the programme across the Island’s 7 centres and the Isle of Wight Cricket Board are hoping to see an increase in those numbers this year with new, fully accredited centres coming on board.

Every child that registers for the programme receives a backpack full of goodies including a cricket bat, ball, activity book, personalised shirt and cap. Children are invited to 8x 1-hour sessions, held over 8 weeks, where the emphasis is on having fun and being active, whilst developing movement skills.

If you want your children to get involved then head over to www.allstarscricket.co.uk, pop in your postcode and locate your closest Island centre.
