This year’s AM-AM Competition held at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club was very well supported, in what, over the years, has become the Premier AM-AM Competition on the Isle of Wight.

The maximum field of 42 teams of 4 were treated to a course in fantastic condition on Saturday (12th May) and coupled with some testing conditions on the day, with rain in the afternoon, made it a very good test for all the golfers involved.

With a fine array of prizes for the first 8 winning teams, along with prizes for nearest the pins on all the par three’s and the straightest drive to compete for, the eventual winners were:

In third place with 114 points a home team, made up of Lawrence Tolfrey, Rick Scoble, Jason Kwan and Ashley Lawrence.

Second place with 115 points was a Ryde team consisting of Adie Adams, Steve Russell, Phil Miles and Gary Cox.

First, with an impressive points tally of 123 points, a mainly home team consisting of Steve Collins, Dave Bell, Brendan Collins (Liphook) and Dave McToldridge – each winning a Taylor Made Flextech Lite Stand Bag.

There were also 4 Hole in One prizes on offer with £5,000 up for grabs on the 11th Hole, sponsored by Island Car Centre.
