UPDATED: 36-year-old Sayful Islam, of Shide road, Newport, has been charged with 2 counts of sexual assault as part of an investigation into an alleged indecent assault on a 14-year-old on Wednesday.
As previously reported by Island Echo, detectives have been investigating reports that a 14-year-old boy was inappropriately touched over his clothing by a man he did not know.
As part of the investigation, Mr Islam has been charged and will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Friday).
UPDATE – Mr Islam has been given conditional bail by magistrates after denying the 2 charges against him.
The 36-year-old will appear back before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 3rd August for the trial.
The 2 charges relate to Wednesday’s alleged incident and an unknown incident in January 2016.
