31-year-old Edward Lale has been remanded in custody and will spend Christmas in prison after being charged with several offences relating to an assault in Shanklin on Tuesday. It was during the early hours of 19th December, at around 01:00, that Police were called to Josephs Way, off Carter Avenue, to reports of a domestic-related incident. A woman received injuries and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment. A 31-year-old, now known to be Lale, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Officers conducted door-to-door enquiries throughout Tuesday morning ahead of charging Ed Lale, of Marlborough Close in Ryde, with 6 offences including wounding without intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, battery and 2 counts of criminal damage. He was remanded in custody and appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday), where he was further remanded in custody to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 23rd January 2024.
