A 30-year-old woman from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following Sunday’s incident at Sandown Jewellers, where a member of staff was punched and a ring stolen.
The robbery took place at around 15:15 on Sunday afternoon (3rd August) when 2 individuals entered the High Street jewellers.
During the incident, a female is alleged to have distracted a staff member whilst a man stole a ring. The eagle-eyed shop worker was then assaulted, suffering injuries after being punched in the face, when he confronted the individual.
The suspects fled the scene on foot.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 30-year-old woman from Newport has been arrested, questioned and bailed in connection with the incident.
The wanted male remains at large.
