Shanklin High Street could soon get 3 new 1-bedroom apartments.
Allen Planning has lodged a prior approval application with County Hall for a change of use of the lower ground and first floors of 25-27 High Street.
They currently have a commercial, business and service use.
Ground floor commercial units at the site, including The Copper Kettle and the Shanklin Health Store, would ‘remain unchanged’, according to a letter from Allen Planning to the council.
2 proposed first floor flats have kitchens, lounge/diner spaces and bathrooms, while the third, which would be on the lower ground floor, has a bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and storage room.
The council’s public consultation on application 25/01100/3MAPA finishes on 8th September and a decision is due on 30th September.

The youngsters need the accommodation it should be a no brainer
Very true, let’s hope they park their vehicles sensibly
and not on the pavement outside the premises.
So many numpties don’t want to walk anywhere.
This evening I was going back to Shanklin and the
usual numpty just after the bend going towards
Victoria Avenue had his truck blocking the whole
pavement.
I cannot believe that the USELESS authorities
allow persons to block footways / pavements!
The island needs a Sadiq Khan he will have the
vehicles towed away in a flash.
