26-YEAR-OLD WOMAN CHARGED OVER TRESPASSING INCIDENT ON ISLAND LINE

26-year-old Jade Sandells from Ryde has been charged with trespassing on the railway and causing a public nuisance following an incident on Island Line yesterday afternoon (Thursday). Train services between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin were suspended at around 16:15 when a trespasser was seen on the line. Power to the track was switched off and Police were called to the scene. At the time Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was responding to a concern for welfare incident at Ryde Esplanade. Island Echo understands that the force has responded to many similar incidents involving a 26-year-old on Ryde Pier in recent months. It has been confirmed that Jade Sandells, of Esplanade in Ryde, was located on Winton Street at just gone 17:20 – almost an hour after the incident began. She was taken into custody at Newport Police Station and was subsequently charged with trespassing in proximity of railway/on railway property and intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance. She has been released on conditional bail to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday 16th February.
