On Sunday 9th March 23 Wight Tri members gathered for the Carisbrooke Castle Duathlon.
The event kicked off in the sunshine from the Priory car park. Competitors chose to complete 1 or 2 loops of a 2.5k run around the scenic castle streets and up the ‘shrubbery’.
Next up was the cycling leg. Participants mounted their trusty steeds for a 19k spin around Carisbrooke, Shorwell and Chillerton.
All the members made it over the finish with some spectacular times. The nominated time was a very close call, with 5 competitors within a minute of their predicted times.
With only 6 seconds off his 1:05:06 finish, Dan Morgan won the crown of 1st place nomination. The fastest for the short runs and bike was Daron Perkins with 1:03:35 and the long runs and bike Craig Wilson with 1:20:25.
The next duathlon – likely to be Colwell on 30th March – is to be confirmed.
