A Ryde man who crashed and flipped his BMW onto its roof – with his 2 children inside – has been banned from driving for 22 months. Dolan Mabey, 49, of Swanmore Road in Ryde, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (26th January) for sentencing having admitted drink driving at an earlier court hearing. As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Combley Road at around 19:00 on 21st October 2023 following reports that a vehicle had crashed, coming off the road and ending up in a hedge on its roof. The road was closed for a short time while the incident was cleared. After hearing the evidence from the Crown Prosecution Service, Magistrates handed Mabey a 22-month driving ban. He was also made subject to a 12-month community order with 180 hours of unpaid work attached. Mabey was ordered to a £114 surcharge fee and £85 costs.

Another lenient sentence, makes one wonder if they have friends
in the right places.
Corrrr with ya kids in the car! That’s low! Jesus!
This Oakfield family are well known for what they are. So the most rotten apple can’t roll far from the tree, as is proven.
Sad to say the ‘children’ will grow up even worse in all likelyhood.
These beings should be given nothing let alone afford to run a car, drink, drugs, etc.
The unemployed or part time employed in the UK are paid far far too much, should ‘just’ about afford to eat, so they then have a REASON to work
As it is get free house, free c.tax, hundreds a week if emptying womb, so they don’t NEED to work, meaning we bring over thousands of immigrants, who soon take up the same stance and choose not to work either, so we bring in more to hope the next lot will, some do, many don’t. Hence we are in the mess we are
Part-time and unemployed paid far too much? What a stupid statement. Lots of people work part-time so what makes their work less valuable? Short term unemployed people deserve more. We have almost the lowest paid benefit system in the developed world. I do agree that some long term unemployed probably play the system but you can’t tar everyone with the same brush and just to clarify why the UK is in, as you say, ‘a mess’… It’s because mentally challenged people with some idiotic ideals that the conservatives will sort it all out, so vote for them. Conservatives have reduced the UK to it’s present state. Hence they will suffer unprecidented defeats in almost every constituency come election time.
See another BMW with drunk driver, frequently drugged and drunk BMW drivers. Wonder if anyone has done research and statistics on such ?. Task for a University student maybe.
Just searched Google – drugged BMW driver. Plenty on there.
That’s because little petty social housing dwellers ‘ who deal a bit of gear’ feel like mini gangsters driving a once decent car.
Same reason they dress in designer clothes and have the latest phone as ‘that’ is all they will ever achieve in their worthless lives
Each generation of this sort worse than the last and all have scattered clones to spread their misery far and wide
Been on the funny fags again Freddie? What an utterly pointless suggestion.
I’m still struggling to see Bigfoot in the picture …
wanker and a shit sentence well done to all..
Im looking for mr scabhead he a strange lonely person
Well known drug taker on the island, sentence too little, he deserves all that comes to him
Is that how a responsible parent looks after his children, I knew I was doing something wrong.
Lock him up and throw away the key
Hope the kids were ok? You scum bag with your kids in the car? Do you have a brain your kids omg, enough said hope you feel remorse.
Wow! Why such a low sentence? He happily risked his childrens lives while breaking the law and should be banned for far longer.
