A 20-year-old woman from Whitwell who crashed her car near Brading whilst drunk has been banned from getting behind the wheel.
Kalicia Rutherford, of Nettlecombe Lane, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last Friday (6th February), where she pleaded guilty to driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit.
The court heard that on 4th January this year, Rutherford was driving a Skoda Fabia on Rowborough Lane when she had 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The offence relates to an early hours crash in which the vehicle left the road and ended up in trees near the railway bridge. No other vehicles were involved.
Magistrates disqualified Rutherford from driving for 16 months. She was fined £161 and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs along with a £64 victim surcharge.

Longer bans is the answer and maybe it’s time to
increase the driving age.
If a 20 year old drink and drives, my guess is they will
re-offend in the future.
Drink and driving kills innocent people.
Banned what a joke should have her license taken away for life as any other drink driver should,
they are life threatening to other road users
The law is soft on drink and drug driving not to
mention numpties driving with no insurance.
Lifetime bans for drink or drug drivers is needed
What victim? There was no other person involved.
About time she got caught selfish cow
