A 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old man are in Police custody this morning (Wednesday) in relation to alleged shoplifting offences in the West Wight. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that the 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of 3 theft offences at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road, Freshwater which occurred on the 21st, 24th and 28th October. During these incidents, meat and alcohol was stolen. The 34-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of theft of alcohol from the same Sainsbury’s store on 24th October, and also on suspicion of theft of a bank card in Freshwater which was reported to Police on 10th August. A spokesperson for the Force has said:
“Businesses need our support – we are targeting shoplifting offences across the Island and continue to ask our business community to keep reporting issues to us”.
UPDATE @ 15:46 – 33-year-old Liam Findlay, of Sunset Close in Freshwater has been charged with the theft of meat from Sainsbury’s on 3 different dates. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Aaron Ford, of Longhalves in Freshwater, has been charged with theft of alcohol from Sainsbury’s on 24th October.
