19 Wight Tri members defied superstition to take on the Totland Aquathon on Friday 13th June – the first of the summer series events.
The weather was perfect sunny conditions with a calm sea. The course was a 250m or 500m swim followed by a 2.4km or 4.8km run along to Colwell Bay and back.
Kaylee Gauntlett won the nominated time and was 19 seconds out of her prediction of 39:20 for the long course. Luck was definitely on side with 4 others coming within a minute of their nominated times.
Fastest lady of the evening was Jan Fletcher in a time of 32:47 and for the gents Craig Wilson in 29:22 after cycling to the event from Newport. Both completed the long course.
The next event – the Yaverland Aquabike – will be on Friday 4th July.
