Red Funnel has cancelled a total of 18 hi-speed sailings to and from the Isle of Wight due to unplanned maintenance to Red Jet 6.
The cross-Solent operator has confirmed that 6 sailings this afternoon (Tuesday) and into this evening have been pulled, alongside 12 sailings throughout tomorrow the disruptions come at the height of half-term.
The 15:35, 16:45 and the 17:55 sailings from Southampton will not run, nor will the 16:10, 17:20 and 18:30 sailings from West Cowes.
Tomorrow, the 06:05, 07:15, 08:25, 15:35, 16:45 and 17:55 sailings from Southampton have all been pulled, as have the 06:40, 07:50, 09:00, 16:10, 17:20 and 18:30 sailings from West Cowes.
Red Funnel says the cancellations are due to unplanned maintenance to Red Jet 6.
There has already been significant cross-Solent disruption today as Wightlink have suspended their Fishbourne to Portsmouth service, as previously reported by Island Echo.
With the on going pathetic excuses from both Wightlink & Red funnel for cancelled crossings , why would any companies wish to invest any business on the Island, or any tourist wish to come here either.

Well said yes & if the Directors/owners weren’t so greedy the badly needed new boats would already be here in use. Didn’t someone say there was to be a Govt.imperative for RF, WL & other ferry companies to actually provide a public service if one is advertised? What happened to that? Hmph. We are trapped. Woe betide you if you have a mainland transport connection or important appt..build in a 1 night hotel booking to your already stretched budget.
A lot of us anti-bridge folk are now reviewing our stance on that.. we can’t leave/can’t get home on or in time for anything! It really is time that 2 ferry companies were prevented from holding islanders to ransom & from deterring visitors (thereby directly causing the demise of even more island businesses). Are RF and WL not accountable to any outside authority? Seems so.

If a tunnel can be made from Dover to France, Surely a small one from the Island to the mainland, or Vicky verky can be done. That would bugger up the ferry company’s.
Oh dear, these “maintenence” men just can’t seem to maintain anything that crosses the Solent can they. The amount of break downs and the need to fix so many problems every week.
Replace the so called maintenence crew they obviously can’t do their job !!!!
