UPDATED: A 17-year-old boy has been left with a fractured skull following a serious assault on Green Lane in Lake last night (Sunday).
At around 22:15 the victim was riding his blue and silver Terrain Assent mountain bike towards Shanklin when he was stopped by 2 teenagers at the junction of Green Lane and Cemetery Road. They asked him for a cigarette and then stated he owed money to someone before assaulting him.
The victim managed to flag down a passer by. He has since been treated at St Mary’s Hospital for injuries to his face and head, including a fractured skull.
Police have issued a description of the attackers as being aged in their late teens, with blonde hair and wearing tracksuits.
The victim’s bike was taken by the suspects, but was later recovered on nearby James Avenue.
Forensic officers have spent the day gathering evidence from the scene, including blood splatters on the ground and on a parked car.
