The Waterside Community Trust is asking the local community to help with fundraising efforts to buy a defibrillator for the beach lifeguard service at Ryde.

Lifeguards have successfully administered CPR to numerous unconscious, non-breathing casualties on the beach over the years. However, when the moment arises the current defibrillator is a 3-4 minute run away, which could mean the difference between life and death for a casualty.
A JustGiving page has been established to raise £1,200 to fund a defibrillator that can be kept in the lifeguard lookout. This would reduce the time it takes to obtain a defib to zero and thus increasing the chances of successful resuscitation on a casualty.
