Local woman Sheran Brown has completed a charity walk taking in 70 miles of the Isle of Wight coastline to raise funds for a defibrillator in Seaview.
Sheran, who lives in Seaview, set herself a challenge to walk around the Island to raise money for an AED at Seagrove Pavilion. The decision was taken to honour the memory of her friend, Mike White, who tragically passed away last year.
The walk began on Saturday 20th April and continued over the Easter weekend in extremely warm conditions. Finally, after 4 days and 117KM, Sheran completed her mammoth task on Tuesday.
Speaking about the epic challenge, Sheran said:
“It was extremely hard going and difficult with the warm conditions. I’m glad I could do this to honour the memory of my friend and it is something that will stay with me forever. The walk also allowed me to see first hand the beauty of the island”.
To date Sheran has raised £1,175 of her £2000 target and despite having now completed her task she is hoping people will continue to sponsor her.
It is intended that the life-saving defibrillator will be sited on the wall of the Pavilion on Seagrove Farm Road, which is regularly used by Seaview Football Club as well as many other local groups and community events including the annual Seaview Regatta.
The entire surrounding community will be able to access the machine 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency occurring.
Sheran added:
“I’m very grateful to everyone that had donated so far. An AED at Seagrove Pavilion where lots of people exercise and use the facilities could really save lives one day.
