On the hottest day of the year so far, Freshwater Bay Golf Club member Steve Orchard played an astonishing 100 holes of golf in a single day to raise funds for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Steve’s marathon effort on 21st June was in support of the charity nominated by Club Captain Bill Evitts.
Bill Evitts expressed his pride in the event, saying:
“Steve’s effort was phenomenal, to play 100 holes in a day is amazing, and the support from our members was incredible.”
Throughout the day, Steve was accompanied by a supportive team of fellow golfers, including Tony Hammonds, Paula Burke, David Harding, Paul Swain, Penny Diez and Sean Wright. Their encouragement helped Steve maintain momentum as he progressed through hole after hole under sweltering conditions.
When he completed the 100th hole, Steve was met with cheers and applause from friends and club members, marking a remarkable personal and athletic achievement.
The event raised over £1,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, showcasing the generosity and community spirit of Freshwater Bay Golf Club.
