Reports of a boat on fire in Cowes have prompted a response from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service this afternoon (Saturday). Pumping appliances from Newport and Cowes were alerted to the incident onboard Whirlwind – moored at Trinity Landing – shortly after 16:30. Having arrived at the scene, Island Echo understands that crews have boarded the sailing vessel and are investigating. HM Coastguard teams from Ventnor have also been called to the scene. The incident remains ongoing. UPDATE @ 18:30 – It has been confirmed that ‘overloaded batteries’ were the reason for the call out. I thought the Floating Bridge may have been put out of its misery!
No such luck !! Jordan & his Clowns would say it was essential maintenance and throw another Million of our £’s at it ..
Called the Coastguard from Ventnor??? Needed the expenses, did they?
Two fire engines,Coastguard and two ambulances so far.
Bored local tax credit funded trash ‘dunit for a larff’. or an electrical fault?
I was watching! 3 fire engines…1 red fire truck…fast response para…and an ammulance!!on leaving heard more sirens.way over egged.all people got off and zero smoke from the boat too even see!
So no fire then..how much did that all cost ..WHY can’t it be the floating turd ..
What sort of batteries get ‘overloaded’ ??? Sounds like bullsh** to me…. i.e. it was a false alarm but we’d better make up a good storey so we don’t look fools. …. Actually, you do look fools….
