Residents living on the HGV diversion route and those who travel between Ryde and Newport will be pleased to hear that works at Wootton Bridge are nearing completion, with a 18 tonne weight restriction set to be revoked at midnight tonight (Friday).
Works to strengthen Wootton Bridge have now been completed, however the 20mph speed restriction is to remain in place for the time being until barrier works are finished and the surfacing of the road is completed. It is thought that the temporary traffic lights and barriers will be removed from the bridge tonight also.
Residents are reminded that surfacing work continues next week between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 and diversions will be in place during these times. This surfacing work will be completed by the end of next week, weather permitting, after which the diversions will be lifted.
