Bembridge RNLI launched its All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) at the request of Solent Coastguard yesterday evening (Friday) to assist a lone skipper.
At around 19:30 the volunteer crew launched to assist a 35ft sailing yacht that had broken down in the vicinity of No Mans Land Fort. The skipper felt he was unable to safely make Portsmouth under sail.
A tow was quickly established and the yacht was towed into Haslar Marina.
The Alfred Albert Williams Tamar-class lifeboat then returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 21:30.
Bembridge RNLI lifeboat station is holding an open day today (Saturday 20th August 2016) until 16:00.
