2 young people have been rescued from the cold waters of Wootton Creek this afternoon (Tuesday) after their vessel capsized.
The alarm was raised with HM Coastguard at 14:26, prompting the mobilisation of Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor.
Cowes RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was also launched, responding at best speed to the scene of the emergency near The Tide Mill.
Thankfully, a nearby vessel from Rebel Marine was able to quickly assist the casualties, recovering them from the water and onto dry land at Pump Lane.
Welfare checks were carried out, but the emergency responders were stood down.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
