The volunteer crew of the Yarmouth RNLI were launched to assist a motor boat off Newtown this afternoon (Wednesday), following reports that it was taking on water in the engine room.
The All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) arrived on the scene shortly after 15:15 and assessed the situation to find that both engines aboard had failed, but the water level was no longer rising.
The conclusion was made that the water cooling for the engine had parted and had started to flood the boat’s engine bay. The lifeboat crew pumped the water out of the engine bay with the on board salvage pump before towing the vessel back to Yarmouth Harbour.
The ALB was moored and ready for service once again at 16:30.
