An 80ft yacht suffering with engine failure has been safely towed to harbour this morning (Wednesday) after fears grew the large vessel could drift into the busy Southampton shipping lane.
Yarmouth RNLI were tasked by Solent Coastguard at 04:20 to assist the yacht with 7 persons on board near to Cowes. The boat’s anchor was dragging and engine power had been lost.
Rendezvousing with the boat and crew, a tow line was attached and the yacht was towed into Cowes Yacht Haven by 07:00.
Cowes RNLI were also tasked to the incident, but later stood down.
