A woman in her 50s from Sandown has been disqualified from driving after crashing into a wall in Bembridge whilst almost 3 times the drink-drive limit.
Cara Ann Wright, 51, of Station Avenue, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (15th January) charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit – drink driving.
The court heard how Wright was driving her Mazda Demio through the village of Bembridge on 25th November last year when she lost control and ploughed into a wall at the junction of Lane End and Steyne Road.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and Wright was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving. She blew 92 on the evidential machine – the legal limit is 35.
Magistrates handed down a 23-month driving ban and ordered Cara, who pleaded guilty to the offence, to complete 40 hours of unpaid work. Wright must also pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.

Scum.
So what does that make you?
I would never even dream of drink driving and putting the lives of others at risk. What this person has done is totally inexcusable and in no way should it be defended or justified by anybody.
You have really let yourself down by some of the comments you have posted. Anyone who drives after consuming alcohol or taking drugs are pure Scum.
Totally shocking
Send her to prison for a year the foolish idiot
Who made you judge and jury
Knowbody but if you act like a complete moron then you should be punished not just banned and fined
Send you to prison on the 43’s
Troll
Dont people ever learn
No body’s perfect.people make mistakes of judgement when under the influence of alcohol.
That’s precisely why vehicles should not be driven by someone under the influence of alcohol or drugs! As any sensible, responsible person would know, these ‘mistakes’ often lead to an innocent person being seriously injured, or worse!
Alcohol should be made illegal.
The point is, she knocked over a wall because she was drunk. She could have knocked over something else, such as a person or persons. The wall can be rebuilt, people can’t. All drink drivers should be automatically banned for 10 years. If a second offence, then a lifetime ban is the only answer.
Well said I think all the people saying ‘ everyone makes mistakes’ would be saying differently if she hit one of there family or friends
Sloath get away from your keyboard and pipe down….
